Why My Approach to Strength & Conditioning for Mountain Bikers is Unique
Mountain biking is more than just a hobby—it’s a passion, a lifestyle, and for most, a constant pursuit of improvement. Whether you’re hitting technical terrain or looking to improve endurance for long rides, every rider wants to push their limits. But how do you balance performance gains with the realities of life, such as work, family, and limited time? That’s where my 25 years of strength and conditioning experience comes in.
Bringing Elite-Level Training to Regular Riders
I’ve spent my career working with top-tier athletes, from elite rugby players to Olympic-level competitors. My background includes clinical injury rehabilitation, VO2 max testing, and even preparing NHL prospects for the Draft Combine. These days I'm fortunate enough to live and work among some of the Worlds best Enduro, Downhill and XC Mountain Bikers. And for the last 5 years I'be been adapting their world-class methods to regular Riders like you and I—mountain bikers who are passionate about the sport but need to balance family, work, and precious time on the bike.
The key difference? While my framework mirrors that of the pros, your progress is gauged by outperforming your previous self. And life happens—whether it’s a busy work week or a family obligation, my training adapts to your reality, ensuring that every session counts towards seasonal, consistent, long-term gains. Over time, this approach keeps you engaged and fit, helping you maximize the benefits of a lifetime of training.
When I started my first personal training company, our mantra was to
"raise people's expectations of what's possible with good training."
This remains a core part of my philosophy today and it keeps me genuinely stoked to do this job. I’m constantly inspired by the people around me, but I'm always asking, "What more can be done?" This relentless pursuit of improvement shapes the way I coach and interact with my clients.
A Program Built Around You
One of the biggest reasons my clients see such success is that my program is entirely personalized. Every rider has their unique goals and physical needs, and my remote, customized training program is designed to fit seamlessly into your life—whether you’re riding trails in Squamish or across the globe. Best of all, it comes at a fraction of the cost of traditional personal training, without compromising on results.
Removing Physical Barriers to Performance
The recurring theme across my hundreds of success stories is that my clients achieve performance gains and lifestyle shifts they once thought were out of reach. With my coaching, you can expect your physical limitations to effectively disappear. Whether it’s endurance, strength, injury resilience, or skill execution, my program empowers you to focus on improving as a rider, without being held back by your body.
Your Path to Long-Term Performance
At the core of my philosophy is the idea that we’re all athletes, and our careers are the rest of our lives. getting better every year might be hard to pull off consistently, but it is possible at any age. My training doesn’t just help you improve your biking performance this season, it will help extend your riding career as long as you want it to. By focusing on incremental gains over a lifetime, we build strength, endurance, and resilience and enthusiasm for riding that keeps you riding your best, no matter what life throws your way.
